An antique mahogany wardrobe with central single door flanked on either side by panelled sections with elaborate central carvings. The body of the wardrobe sits on a separate base containing a deep drawer; below the drawer is a shaped pelmet. The crown of the piece carries a heavily moulded pelmet.

We gave this wardrobe loads of TLC when it arrived with us, including rebuilding its crown and repairing trim and pelmet. After preparation, we gave it two coats of shellac based primer sealer followed by a water based acrylic resin undercoat. Next we painted two coats of water based acrylic satin, the colour is New White. Finally we gave the piece a coat of carnauba wax.

The interior of the wardrobe was a hotchpotch of paper and we had intended to painting it but found the surface was too rough. Instead we chose a pale grey and cream stripe wallpaper. The inside base has been lined in cream fabric. The deep drawer at the bottom is ideal for storage of linen, clothing or shoes. We have cleaned and refitted the original drawer pulls and door pull.
